Building Homes, Not Houses
Every custom home we design and build has a unique story. The story starts when our design team sits down with our clients and starts designing their home as a collective effort. People typically come in with an idea of what they want: a luxurious modern farmhouse, a contemporary home with lots of space to entertain, or perhaps a more traditional home with pockets of space for everyone in the family. Our design team takes notes on how the furniture will be laid out, what our clients want each space to feel like, and how each member of the house will live in the home. We take time to walk our client’s current homes, as well as lay out designs from trusses to outdoor space in order to make sure every detail on their wish list is included into the final design. From there, the details are crafted and tweaked by our wonderful trade partners and project managers to create the perfect space.
Because of how our process works, we are building homes for our clients who become an important part of our family. Jeff Englund, President at Larsen, started his career with our company as a Project Manager. One home that he is particularly proud of is the Napa Valley Farmhouse we built in Observatory Park, just south of the hip Washington Park and Platt Park neighborhoods in Denver. The homeowner spent a lot of time finding the perfect touches for her home, and loved being involved in the design. She would bring Jeff inspiration photos of a kids bunk room and they’d sit down together to figure out how to make it come alive. She wanted special beams for her ceiling so Jeff tracked down the perfect place to source them from. The fireplace needed to be a showstopper, so we collaboratively worked with Distinctive Mantel and Designs to make sure it was one-of-a-kind perfection. The small details and personal relationships are what makes Larsen thrive and love this business.
We recently were a finalist for a MAME award for Custom Home of the Year for another home in Columbine Valley, Colorado that overflows with the attention to detail and love we had while designing and building it. The homeowner dreamt of building this custom home to encompass every aspect of life for their daughter to experience from home. With private spaces for all of the residents at the home including a 1000 square foot sewing room, gym, woodshop, live-in quarters for a future caretaker, game room and theater, basketball court, pool, and spa, this home would have been impossible to find on the real estate market. It was important for us to get every aspect right for them as is the case for all of our homes. We spent months making sure everything down to the hardware on the light fixtures was perfect.
Building a luxury custom home with a design+build company is unique in that every inch of your home is specific to you. People ask us from time to time why we don’t build many spec homes. The honest answer to that is that we aren’t just in it for the money, we are also in it for the relationships. Larsen doesn’t just build houses, we build homes and life long friendships.
